Letter to Shareholders
Dear Oakworth Shareholders,
We are pleased to share several important updates from Oakworth’s first quarter of 2026.
After a thoughtful search for the right wealth strategist to advise clients on complex financial matters—including generational wealth preservation and transition, liquidity events, and trust and estate planning—Winston Busby joins us from a national law firm, where he served on the board of directors and co-chaired the Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation Practice Group. His experience, leadership, and values enhance Oakworth’s wealth offering and strengthen our ability to serve clients with sophisticated wealth management needs. You can learn more about Winston here.
We continue to see attractive growth opportunities in the current financial services environment. Historically, merger and acquisition activity across the industry has created opportunities for us to speak with talented individuals and teams who may be interested in joining Oakworth. We have already had several of these conversations, expect more, and look forward to sharing additional updates in future communications. We have also been evaluating the capital needed to support these opportunities and the growth already reflected in our business model. Accordingly, we have launched a modest equity capital raise for accredited investors only, which we currently expect to complete around the end of July.
We remain well-capitalized and maintain a strong liquidity position. Double-digit balance sheet growth continued in the first quarter, with loans up 12% and deposits up 10% year-over-year, while wealth assets increased 18%. Net income for the quarter was $4.9 million, comparable to the first quarter of 2025, and reflected two strategic decisions. First, we completed a loss-earnback securities transaction that produced a modest $127 thousand pre-tax loss in the quarter but is expected to break even and add approximately $125 thousand pre-tax this year. Second, consistent with our conservative approach to balance sheet management, we further wrote down the value of our other real estate parcel, reducing income by $872 thousand pre-tax. For additional detail on our financial performance and condensed consolidated financial statements, please see our first quarter 2026 earnings release.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Oakworth as both a client and a shareholder.
Sincerely,
Scott Reed
Chairman and CEO
