Mr. Maund brings a depth of experience and leadership to Oakworth, with a career in financial services that spans more than three decades. Most recently, he served as managing director and senior advisor at Chilton Trust, where he was involved in strategic planning, client development, and marketing within a nationally chartered trust and wealth management firm managing over $7 billion in assets.
Before joining Chilton, he held senior leadership roles over a 27-year career with Wells Fargo and its predecessor organizations. He notably served as National Business Development Executive for Abbot Downing, the firm’s private wealth unit for ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices. In this capacity, he supported 13 offices across the U.S., fostering cross-functional partnerships and designing tailored wealth strategies for clients with significant liquidity and assets. Earlier in his tenure, he served in key roles at Wachovia and RBC Centura, where he led advisory teams and helped align investment management solutions across banking platforms.
Mr. Maund is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and a graduate of Auburn University, where he served as president of the Student Government Association. His deep commitment to professional excellence and community service is evident in his leadership roles, including as past chairman of the Investment Committee at First Presbyterian Church and as current chairman of the board of visitors at Queens University. He is also an engaged supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Boy Scouts of America.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, he is an avid golfer and music lover. Robert and his wife, Mary Brooks, recently celebrated 35 years of marriage and are proud parents of three adult children. They split their time between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina.
